Research October 2023 Newsletter

G517422 Clinical Trials bulletin v2 (1)

Colleagues,

October 1st marks the first day of the Carilion Clinic “New Year”. In addition to reflecting upon your past accomplishments, it is time to set new goals for fiscal year 24. I hope that you consider initiating a nascent research project and/or pursue funding to support your ongoing research. To that end, I want to bring to your attention the announcement for our latest round of the Research Acceleration Program (RAP). Carilion Clinic has supported the research endeavors of our employees for over seventeen cycles. In addition to promoting patient-centered research, funding has fostered collaborative projects with our academic partners. Moreover, it has increased the Carilion Clinic footprint by the dissemination of research results at national and international scientific conferences. Lastly, these seed funding grants have led to securing extramural funding from federal, state and foundation sources. Although all research that supports the Carilion Clinic mission are considered for funding by a peer review process, this year we will earmark one award for Health System and Implementation Science research. If you have any questions pertaining to the RAP program, please contact Melissa Mercure, mzmercure@carilionclinic.org.

Regards,

Francis X. Farrell, PhD
Senior Director, Research and Development

Carilion Clinic's Transition to Electronic Regulatory Document Management System

Carilion Clinic has purchased and implemented an electronic regulatory document management system that will eventually replace paper-based regulatory files. R&D is managing the rollout and selected studies will be identified to pilot the system. Later in the fiscal year, we will begin to migrate more studies into the system, moving towards long-term total conversion. Training will be provided to investigators and study team members. Please contact Kristina Cooper or Andrea Mohr with any questions.
