Research and Development
RENEW-Op-1 (Lilly) aims to evaluate whether an investigational compound (IP) is safe and effective for participants with opioid use disorder when used with buprenorphine (with or without naloxone). The IP is a dual GIP/GLP-1 that may help to maintain abstinence and reduce the risk of opioid relapse and overdose. All participants will receive active drug as part of this open-label study. Participants must be between 18-75 years of age and currently taking buprenorphine (+/- naloxone) for the treatment of opioid use disorder in early recovery stages.
AMPA-VEGA 1 (Neurocrine) aims to evaluate the efficacy of an IP compared with placebo as an adjunctive treatment in delaying relapse of depressive symptoms in subjects with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The compound is a selective AMPA receptor positive allosteric modulator that has the potential to have an improved safety and tolerability profile compared to available adjunctive therapies. Trial participants will receive active drug for 16 weeks before entering the randomized, double-blind maintenance phase. Participants must be over 18 years of age with a primary diagnosis of recurrent MDD or persistent depressive disorder and must be currently taking 1 or more antidepressant with an inadequate response in the current episode.

AlloNK (Rheumatology): As Carilion’s first cell therapy trial, AlloNK investigates whether NK cells from healthy donors (alloNK cells) can be used with rituximab to decrease the abnormal B cells that cause rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
