Local First Responders Deliver Holiday Spirit
Santa rappelled down the exterior of the hospital before visiting the unit
Local first responders helped to deliver holiday magic to pediatric patients spending the season in the hospital. On Dec. 10, Roanoke Fire-EMS, the Roanoke Police Department, and the Roanoke City Sheriff's Department escorted Santa to Carilion Children's Hospital for a festive visit.
He and his elves rappelled down the exterior of the hospital, waving to young patients watching from their windows while the first responders watched stationed below. After his grand entrance, Santa and his first-responder friends visited the unit to spread cheer, offer greetings, and brighten the holidays.
Carilion Children's Hospital, housed in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, is the region's only children's hospital and Southwest Virginia’s local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. This was the second year Santa and first responders partnered on a visit, helping to normalize the hospital stay for the region’s youngest patients and their families.
