Clinical Trials Day 2022

I wanted to take the opportunity to recognize our clinical research team members in honor of Clinical Trials Day, which was held on May 20, 2022. Please take a moment to view the “Behind the Scenes” article in Friday's EPulse and a video montage from our Rewards of Research series, featuring several of our clinical research investigators. 

The past two years have been a challenging time for healthcare and clinical research professionals, but also a rewarding time, due to the advances made through research for COVID-19 vaccines and treatments. Beyond COVID-19 research, all of Carilion’s clinical departments continued to pursue research during a global pandemic and successfully maintained operations - none of which would have been possible without our team of dedicated, skilled research professionals. Your efforts, adaptability, and resilience are deeply appreciated.

The work that you do is critical to the development and approval of new therapies, bringing the benefits of clinical trials to our local community. For perspective, Carilion has doubled the number of clinical trials offered to our patients over a 5 year period. This is a tremendous accomplishment and an incredible transformation that I have had the pleasure to witness! I am grateful for all of your contributions and I look forward to the future of clinical research at Carilion.
