New Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine – Rocky Mount Location Opens

Carilion Clinic leaders gathered today for the ribbon cutting of the new Carilion Children's Pediatric Medicine – Rocky Mount location. The new space builds on existing pediatric access in the Rocky Mount area, bringing general and expanded specialty care to one convenient location for families.

"We are excited to serve our patients in this new space, tailored to suit their needs,” said Dr. Nicholas Tallman, Carilion Children’s pediatrician. “The practice has been intentionally designed to help our youngest patients feel safe and welcome.”

Specialized features in the 3,632 square-foot space include eight exam rooms, including two for specialty clinics plus a procedure room, separate healthy and sick patient waiting areas, color and art throughout the practice and kid-friendly office spaces meant for more personal interactions.

“We are committed to offering quality pediatric care close to home for our region,” said Dr. David O’Neil, Carilion Children’s pediatrician. “We’re thrilled to continue caring for our patients, acting as a resource and serving children at every stage of life.”

In addition to offering general pediatric care, pediatric specialties will begin rotating through the practice in the coming months.

“Our pediatric specialty teams are ready to meet patients where they need it, when they need it,” said Dr. Andrew Herman, chair of Pediatrics. “We will offer cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology and pulmonology on an alternating basis.”

“This is another phenomenal resource in our efforts to increase access to care in our region,” said Carl Cline, president of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. “With our hospital’s recent operating room expansion and soon-to-be emergency department in the Smith Mountain Lake area, I’m excited to see the new ways we are innovating to meet community needs.”

The practice is equipped to handle a range of services from wellness visits to mild trauma. Officially opening to patients on Monday, July 28, regular hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment, families can call the practice at 540-482-5220.
