Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute Recognized for Excellence
Carilion is the second in Virginia to receive this designation – the highest from the American College of Cardiology
The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has recognized Carilion Clinic for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality culture and cardiovascular care. Carilion’s Cardiovascular Institute received the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence designation in January based on meeting accreditation criteria and through their ongoing performance registry reporting.
Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated their commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement.
“Carilion Clinic has demonstrated its commitment to providing Southwest Virginia with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board.
The ACC offers U.S. and international systems like Carilion access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and improve hospital financial performance. These services are focused on all aspects of cardiac care.
“For decades, our Cardiovascular Institute has delivered exceptional heart care to our region,” said Marguerite Underwood, vice president of Carilion’s Cardiovascular Institute. “This recognition is a meaningful acknowledgment of our unwavering commitment to patient care and to the communities we serve.”
