Bring Cheer to Children Hospitalized Over the Holidays

Download

This holiday season, there are two ways the community members can help kids and teens who are hospitalized. Both Carilion Children's Hospital and Carilion Mental Health's Child & Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit are hosting drives to collect gifts and support items for their patients.

About the Units

Both units collect donations that help patients throughout the year, providing toys, activities and comfort items for kids during what can be a scary, stressful time.

Carilion Children's Hospital, housed in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, is the region's only children's hospital and Southwest Virginia’s local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. Also including the region's largest, most sophisticated NICU, teams offer specialized care for children 0 to 18 years of age.

Carilion Mental Health's Child & Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit is one of the largest child and adolescent mental health inpatient units in the region, treating children ages 9 to 17. These patients often arrive to the unit needing clothes and other support items. During their time on the unit, toys, games, and other activities play a big role in treatment and rehabilitation.

Guidelines

Both units have their own wishlists outlined below. Items must be new, unwrapped, and latex-free. They should not contain religious or violent messaging.

Donations are accepted and appreciated at any time, though please consider dropping off your items no later than Dec. 20 to ensure holiday distribution.

Thank you for helping the region's youngest patients feel the warmth of this holiday season!
