Rawle "Tony" Seupaul, M.D.

As Chief Physician Executive, Dr. Seupaul is responsible for the operation of Carilion’s multi-specialty physicians group, which employs more than 800 physicians and 300 nurse practitioners and physician assistants across 70 medical specialties throughout Virginia. He leads Carilion’s efforts to balance clinical, education and research practice to ensure clinical excellence to reduce cost of care while improving quality and the patient experience.

Dr. Seupaul came to Carilion from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was the executive associate dean for Clinical Affairs and the Stanley E. Reed endowed professor and chair of Emergency Medicine in the College of Medicine. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in evidence-based medicine education and the application of science to health care, and he serves on several national boards for Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Seupaul graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the Honors in Medical Education Program at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, where he also served as chief resident. He recently attained his master’s degree in health care delivery from Dartmouth College.
