Our interdisciplinary team works with families and schools to make sure diabetes doesn’t slow our patients down. Our patients with diabetes benefit from the latest technology advances including, continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps, closed-loop pumps, and remote data sharing.
Growth is an important sign of health and nutrition, and problems with growth can impact self-esteem and well-being. Our team can helps kids grow to their maximum potential.
Puberty and Gender
Early and delayed puberty can be distressing for patients and their families. Our providers can help determine when treatment is needed. Our clinic can also help patients with gender dysphoria.
Our providers care for children with disorders of bone and calcium, including vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis, and hypo and hyperparathyroidism.
Hypo and hyperthyroidism can impact all the other organ systems in the body. Our providers have extensive experience treating congenital and acquired thyroid disorders including autoimmune thyroid disease.
Camp Too Sweet
Learning to live with diabetes can be challenging, especially for children. We are pleased to offer the Camp Too Sweet program for children ages 8 to 16 who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. This week-long summer program teaches young people with diabetes the self-management skills.
Opening October 2021, the fully accessible Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center brings Carilion Children’s outpatient practices together to better serve our young patients and their families. Together with Pediatric Medicine, 18 specialties and services will be available at the new location. The facility is located at 4348 Electric Road in Roanoke.
