Virginia Tech Carilion Partnership
The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) formed out of an innovative public-private partnership with Virginia Tech. Together, we are working to transform addiction and mental health care by educating the physician leaders of tomorrow. VTCSOM uses a patient-centered curriculum designed to develop physicians who can take research from the lab to patient treatment. Students learn, train and work side by side with Carilion's highly experienced staff.
Mission, Goals and Strengths
Our mission is to offer quality evidence-based services to those are impacted by addiction. We believe that together through an integrated approach to care we can best serve our clients and their families.
Department specs
At Carillion Clinic, we address substance use disorders as complex and chronic ailments that rarely are resolved by a single intervention such as detoxification. Although detoxification is not sufficient, it is often a necessary first step before true healing can begin. Our team of experts are interested in developing new ways to understand and treat addictive disorders through treatment, research, and education.
