Biography
G. Anders Sylvester-Johnson, N.P., is a native of Louisville, KY and the son of two ordained ministers and missionaries. Anders grew up traveling to many locations, active in his parent’s ministry and has continued a life of strong faith today. He currently resides in Roanoke, VA.
Starting his career as a Paramedic and eventual member of the Neuro Trauma team at CRMH, he enjoyed providing life saving measures to those in need of emergency services. He obtained a nursing degree from Jefferson College of Health Sciences with an emphasis on community health. He gained experience working with the Carilion Clinic Cardiac Care Unit, ED services for women and children, and Carilion Clinic Community Care.
While continuing work with Carilion, Anders also obtained nearly a decade of experience working with the Roanoke Rescue Mission as Clinical Manager, Director of Programs and eventual Chief Operations Officer. He developed a passion for serving the homeless and helping those with substance use disorders seek recovery.
Anders recently earned a Masters in the Science of Nursing (FNP-BC) from Old Dominion University. He now works in Carilion’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine department with an interest in addiction medicine.
In his free time, Anders enjoys listening to audible books, attending church and spending time with friends and family.
