Biography

Dr. Linda Keele is originally from the great state of Utah. She started her undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, but left school to move with her husband to Idaho. After several years she returned to school and in 2004, earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Idaho State University. She moved across the country to Pennsylvania to attend medical school at Drexel University School of Medicine, graduating in 2008. Her next move took her to Ohio, where she completed pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). It was at CCHMC where she developed her passion for critical care medicine and pediatric palliative care. In 2011, Dr. Keele moved back to her home state of Utah for pediatric critical care fellowship at Primary Children's Hospital and the University of Utah. During her fellowship she conducted research in pediatric palliative care and end-of-life care, in addition to taking courses in Bioethics and serving on the Bioethics committee. After completing fellowship in 2014, she moved to California where she was a pediatric critical care physician at Valley Children's Hospital (VCH). At VCH, she was an associate medical director of the 42-bed PICU/CICU, one of two physicians on the Susan Willoughby Pediatric Palliative Care team, and served on the Bioethics committee. During her time at VCH, she developed an interest in patient safety, so in 2021 she earned a master's degree in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Keele's desire to utilize her master's degree is what prompted her move to Virginia. In 2022, she joined Carilion Children's Hospital as a Pediatric Critical Care attending and as the Pediatric Quality Officer. In addition to her love of medicine, Dr. Keele finds fulfillment in spending time with her husband and dogs, reading books, hanging out with friends, and exercising (preferably outdoors).
