Biography
Dr. Dan Krakauer is thrilled to be returning to Carilion Clinic as a hospice and palliative care physician - a journey that seems destined. His passion for hospice and palliative care was sparked during his third-year family medicine clerkship at VTC in 2016, where he became the first student to pursue elective rotations in both fields.
Dr. Krakauer completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center in 2020. Hailing from Akron, Ohio, he went on to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Ohio State University in 2021, eventually joining the faculty there.
Dr. Krakauer returns to Roanoke with his new wife, Gabe, their three dogs (including one therapy dog who worked with the palliative medicine team at OSU), and their cat.
