Visiting Student Affairs

Visiting Student Affairs is the centralized hub for learners across Carilion Clinic. We support visiting students, employees who are also students, and learners from a variety of professional disciplines. Start with us for any learning inquiry—we’ll connect you to the right opportunity.

We coordinate shadowing, clinical rotations, unpaid internships, and other learning experiences throughout our organization. If you’re not sure where to begin, we’re here to help guide you.

Visiting Student Affairs

At Carilion, a summer internship is more than just a summer job—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on your career and in the community. Spend your summer developing new skills, building your resume, and exploring healthcare careers. We offer positions with flexible hours in Roanoke and the New River Valley for individuals 16 and older. 

The internship runs June 1 – July 31, 2026. Opportunities include non-clinical roles (i.e. administrative) and clinical direct patient care.

Blue Ridge Partnership

The BRPHSC was created to address the growing demand for healthcare and health science professionals across GO Virginia Region 2, including Roanoke, New River Valley, Alleghany, and greater Lynchburg. The partnership brings together 54+ regional educators, employers, economic development professionals, and community partners to strengthen workforce pathways in healthcare, life sciences, and bio-related fields. 

Using a collective impact model, BRPHSC aligns education, training, and industry efforts to meet current and future workforce needs. Carilion serves as the anchor organization, providing leadership and coordination.
