Biography
Stephanie is a lifelong resident of southwest Virginia. She developed a love for the profession of nursing while helping a family member recover from surgery. She began employment with Carilion and started nursing school in 2002. She received her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Jefferson College of Health Sciences in 2004, and later returned there for a Master of Science in Nursing- Management, in 2010.
As a nurse, she has been a champion of patient centered care and patient advocacy, with specific focus on patient education and providing high quality care. She has served on committees for nursing and opioid-related research. Over the course of her nursing career, she had the opportunity to collaborate with many talented physicians and advanced care practitioners. This fostered her desire to provide a higher level of care to patients. After serving 16 years as a registered nurse, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing- Family Nurse Practitioner from Radford University Carilion in 2020 and is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. During the height of the corona virus pandemic, she had the honor of completing a one-year residency program in Primary Care at the Salem Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Following the residency, she worked for an additional year in Primary Care at the VAMC before returning to Carilion Clinic to join Pain Management in September of 2022.
