Biography

Dr. Adibi is a urologist and urologic oncologist specializing in the surgical treatment of cancers of the genitourinary system. He currently serves as the Division Chief of Urologic Oncology in the Section of Urology at the Carilion Clinic, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM).

Dr. Adibi’s clinical interests include the screening, diagnosis, and surgical treatment of the full spectrum of urologic cancers, including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and kidney cancer, along with other rare urologic cancers such as adrenal, testicular, ureteral, and penile cancers. He also sees patients with a suspicion of cancer, such as elevated PSA or blood in the urine. He has extensive expertise in open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical approaches, including complex robotic prostate, bladder, and kidney surgeries. Dr. Adibi also sees patients with non-cancerous and benign urological issues.

Prior to moving to the Roanoke Valley, Dr. Adibi served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for 10 years, where he also served in various educational roles such as Assistant Site Director for residency programs, as well as Patient Experience Officer of MD Anderson League City. He came to Carilion Clinic to help establish a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary genitourinary cancers program for the new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center, which will help elevate urological care in the region.

Dr. Adibi earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he also went on to complete an internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology. After residency, he then completed a two-year fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Adibi also holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. He participated in a multitude of clinical research projects at MD Anderson and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
