Biography
Mariana A. Phillips, MD, is an associate professor of medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic School of Medicine. Dr. Phillips earned her bachelors degree in biology from Roanoke College and her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine. She completed her dermatology residency at VCU Medical Center and subsequently completed a one-year fellowship in procedural dermatology and Mohs surgery at VCU. Dr. Phillips commitment to academic medicine began early in her career. After her fellowship training, she served as an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at VCU Medical Center. She returned to her hometown of Roanoke, Virginia, in 2008, and founded the current dermatology practice at the Carilion Clinic.
Dr. Phillips is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Her major academic interests include residency education, cutaneous oncology, and Mohs surgery. She has numerous academic achievements including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society; publications in the dermatologic literature; and lectures delivered to local, regional, and state meetings. Dr. Phillips has been recognized by the Roanoker Magazine as one of Roanokes Top Dermatologists and she has received Our Health Magazines Bedside Manner award. In her free time, Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Her hobbies include arts and crafts, gardening, and oil painting.
