Biography
Dr. Croteau is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine where he joined the faculty in 2013. He completed his undergraduate degree at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Kentucky, graduating with High Distinction, and was elected by the faculty and his peers to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Rheumatology at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire, where he received awards for excellence in teaching. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
Dr. Croteau's great joy is teaching medical students at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and teaching medical residents the art and science of rheumatology at Carilion Clinic. His clinical interests include Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis, and Gout. Dr. Croteau is vested in cultivating long term relationships with his patients afflicted with chronic rheumatic disease.
Dr. Croteau served as the President of the Virginia Society of Rheumatology from 2019-2021, and currently serves on the executive board as acting Past President. He is also a member of the American College of Rheumatology.
Dr. Croteau was born and raised in the beautiful state of Maine where his love of nature and the outdoors began. He is grateful that he has found as beautiful a place to live as the Roanoke Valley with his wife, two children, and two dogs. He also holds great passion for the performing arts.
