Biography
Dr. Murchison grew up in Texas. She graduated from medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2000. She then completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2004. She joined Carilion Clinic in 2007 after gaining private practice experience in Colorado. Dr. Murchison is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Clinically, she enjoys practicing all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology. She sees women for preventative care, contraceptive counseling, and routine and high-risk prenatal care. She also helps women who are dealing with problems such as abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain and menopausal symptoms. When her patients require surgery, she is able to perform both minor and major gyn surgeries including hysterectomies. Dr. Murchison appreciates the continuity that being an obstetrician/ gynecologist allows as she enjoys getting to know her patients over the years. Dr. Murchison is committed to medical students and resident education and is currently the ob/gyn residency program director. Nationally, Dr. Murchison serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is active with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, currently serving on the exam writing committee.
