What are the long-term effects of experiencing a traumatic brain injury? Our skull base neurosurgeon, Eric Marvin, DO and Michelle Theus, PhD at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine are looking for answers to this question through their research collaborations to determine if there are markers in the blood that provide insight for what a patient’s recovery will be, months or even years after the injury. Currently, they are focused on investigating post traumatic epilepsy which can occur in some patients who experience severe head trauma.
