Carilion Clinic began using the da Vinci® Surgical System in 2001 as part of our mission to deliver the latest, most innovative, cutting-edge technology to our patients.

Using da Vinci®, the surgeon operates the console, which shows a 3-D image of the surgical area. Instrument controls below the display seamlessly translate the surgeon's movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside your body.

At Carilion Clinic, we offer palliative care to improve the quality of life for anyone suffering from advanced or disabling illness.

The palliative care team consists of nurses, advanced practice nurses, bereavement counselors, fellows, residents and physicians with support by chaplaincy, dietary, social workers, case managers and pharmacy services. Together, they provide comprehensive management of patients’ physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs while supporting their families/caregivers.
