Swing Bed

When patients need a transition from any hospital to home, our Swing Bed program offers a safe and nurturing environment. The service includes 24-hour skilled nursing care with a rehabilitation focus. We offer this program at Carilion hospitals in Lexington, Pearisburg and Tazewell, Virginia.

To qualify for the Swing Bed program, patients must require some form of skilled nursing or rehabilitation service. Some examples of conditions include:

  • Wounds that are not healing well or need special care
  • Recovery from major surgery or joint replacement
  • The need for continued therapy: physical, occupational or speech
  • Muscle weakness
