When patients need a transition from any hospital to home, our Swing Bed program offers a safe and nurturing environment. The service includes 24-hour skilled nursing care with a rehabilitation focus. We offer this program at Carilion hospitals in Lexington, Pearisburg and Tazewell, Virginia.<...

To qualify for the Swing Bed program, patients must require some form of skilled nursing or rehabilitation service. Some examples of conditions include:

  • Wounds that are not healing well or need special care
  • Recovery from major surgery or joint replacement
  • The need for continued therapy: physical, occupational or speech
  • Muscle weakness
