Motor vehicle crashes are the number one killer of children, and locally, 8 out of 10 children are not riding properly restrained in their car seats. See the schedule below or contact a certified car seat safety technician in your area to schedule a free safety check to ensure the safety of your child.

  • The first Tuesday of each month from 4-6 p.m. By appointment only.
  • The second Wednesday of each month from 3-5 p.m. at Carilion Children's Tanglewood Center, 4348 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018. No appointment necessary.
  • The third Thursday of each month from 4-6 p.m. at Roanoke City Fire Department #6, 1333 Jamison Ave SE, Roanoke, VA. No appointment necessary.

In our region, Safe Kids Southwest Virginia, a local coalition led by Carilion Children’s, implements programs that educate parents, caregivers and children on injury prevention.
