Validation of an Interventional-Based Pain Scale and Comparison With the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) in a Postoperative Setting
Pain after a surgery is challenging to treat correctly. We have created a new pain scale that is based on what has taken care of the patient’s pain. Patients will fill out pain diaries following surgery. They will turn these diaries in after two weeks at their follow-up visit. The results...
About
Protocol Description
Interested patients having total hip arthroplasty, rotator cuff repair or total meniscectomy will fill out pain diaries for 2 weeks following their surgical procedure. They will write down what medications were taken, the amount of pain they are in, if anything has taken care of their pain and if they have taken over-the-counter medicine. The pain diaries will compare the interventional-based pain scale (IBPS) to the numerical rating scale (NRS).
