
Theta Burst TMS for Treatment of Methamphetamine Use Disorder
Carilion Clinic is performing a research study to determine if the use of interventional psychiatry treatments can help with methamphetamine addiction.
About
Patients struggling with Methamphetamine Use Disorder may be eligible for enrolling in this trial. It includes ten in-person research visits: one initial consent and baseline visit, five consecutive days of in-person TMS treatment visits, and four follow-up visits. Craving questionnaires, urine drug-screens and quality of life surveys will be evaluated. Patients may be eligible for compensation for attending research appointments.
Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- Age 18-55
- Actively struggling with Methamphetamine Use Disorder
- Established care with a Carilion Psychiatry physician
Exclusion Criteria
- Active alcohol and/or benzodiazepine dependence
- Established seizure disorder
- History of traumatic brain injury
- Pregnancy

Anita Kablinger, MD, CPI, is director of Clinical Research and a professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She has over 25 years of clinical and research experience.
