Biography

Dr. Rivelli trained in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Duke University and is a board-certified internist and psychiatrist. While at Duke, she led the combined Internal Medicine Psychiatry Residency Training Program and the Medicine-Psychiatry and Hospital Psychiatry clinical programs. As a clinical leader, she expanded hospital psychiatry services to include Consultation-Liaison, the Medicine-Psychiatry Service, Inpatient Psychiatry, Transplant Psychiatry and Emergency Psychiatry. She has worked and published as a clinical educator spanning both specialties. Research and clinical improvement initiatives have included delirium, alcohol withdrawal, and education.
Dr. Rivelli is the past president of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry. She joined Carilion in 2019 and is an Associate Professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
