Biography
Dr. Mikhail Bekarev is a board-certified orthopaedic trauma surgeon with Carilion Clinic's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He serves as an Assistant Professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, where he is actively involved in teaching and clinical research. Dr. Bekarev specializes in the comprehensive care of patients with complex fractures and musculoskeletal injuries.
Dr. Bekarev's approach to care is a partnership with his patients. He believes in listening to their goals and making decisions together to create a treatment plan that fits their life. The most rewarding part of his job is seeing patients recover from serious injuries and return to the activities they value most.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS) and an active member of the Virginia Orthopaedic Society . He also serves on the Artificial Intelligence Task Force for the national Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA) and is national faculty for AO Trauma, an organization dedicated to teaching advanced surgical techniques to other surgeons.
