Biography

Lisa Jones-Worrell, L.C.S.W., is a licensed clinical social worker who provides psychotherapy to clients across the lifespan. Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University Hayward, in Hayward, California and her master’s degree from Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Her primary focus is working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression and prolonged trauma.

Lisa has years of experience providing support through an evidence-based, eclectic approach which centers around Cognitive Processing Treatment for PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) for anxiety and depression, Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD as well as utilizing a Strength Based Approach. She is trained in Motivational Interviewing and utilizes Supportive Therapy.

Prior to coming to Carilion Mental Health Outpatient, she worked as a certified employer assistant professional (CEAP) at Carilion Clinic EAP, where her focus of interest was working with first responders. Prior to this position Lisa worked as a clinical social worker with Carilion’s Inpatient Rehab for children and adolescents. Lisa has worked in various therapeutic clinical settings providing individual, couples and family therapy utilizing Structured Family Therapy.

Lisa’s areas of interest include building clinical services for first responders in our community. Currently, Lisa is the clinical supervisor of the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Departments peer support team. She is CISM trained through the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program (VALEAP).
