Biography
Dr. Sosa-Stanley is excited to re-join Carilion Clinic, where she completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. She then went on to obtain additional training in the sub-specialization of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and Pelvic Surgery (MIGS) at St. Luke's University in Pennsylvania.
As one of the only physicians with this sub-specialization in the region, Dr. Sosa-Stanley is eager to bring this focused practice to the area and serve as a surgical consultant to this community. Dr. Sosa-Stanley grew up in the neighboring city of Lynchburg and feels honored to serve the people of her home state.
Throughout her training she has been highly involved in medical education and surgical instruction and is an active member of multiple national surgical societies. She has received numerous teaching awards throughout her residency and fellowship. Her research interests include surgical simulation, health disparities in medicine, and fertility-sparing treatment of uterine fibroids.
Dr. Sosa-Stanley often treats complex gynecologic surgical disease using advanced minimally invasive techniques. She performs vaginal surgery, operative hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and robotics.
