Biography

Dr. Samarbafzadeh (Dr. Sam) was born in Iran and raised in Iran and England. He attended medical school and completed his medical degree at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, one of the top medical schools in Iran. After working for 4 years in various urgent care settings in his home country, he moved to the United States for a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where he studied the effects of the gut barrier on systemic inflammation. He then moved on to do his residency in Psychiatry at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine residency program, where he treated patients who were from various backgrounds and who had a wide range of mental illnesses. He has a special interest in treating mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma related disorders.
