Biography

Dr. Brandt grew up in suburban Chicago and was exposed at an early age to the field of medicine and surgery. As the grandson of a General Surgeon and the son of a Vascular nurse, his interest in Vascular Surgery started while he was in high school. He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2005 with a double major in Chemistry and Political Science. He then received his Doctor of Medicine from Rush University in Chicago. He trained in General Surgery from 2009-2014 at St John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan before completing his fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. From there, Dr. Brandt had the privilege of joining the Vascular Surgery Group at Jefferson Surgical Clinic in Roanoke in 2016. He serves as Director of the Interventional Center and has grown his practice to include a wide range of vascular diseases. He transitioned to Carilion Clinic in 2022. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and Vascular Surgery staff at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He dedicates his free time to his family, his wife and two kids. He also enjoys golfing and outdoor activities such as hiking.
