Biography

Christopher E. Bayne, M.D. grew up in Northern Virginia and earned a bachelor of science in Psychology and bachelor of arts in English from Virginia Tech. He received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia and then completed a urology residency program at The George Washington University. He continued his training by completing a two-year pediatric urology fellowship at Children’s National Hospital, in Washington, DC.

Dr. Bayne worked for five years as an Assistant Professor and pediatric urologist at University of Florida. He served in a dual role in clinical practice, advancing robotic techniques with the multiport and single port robotic systems, and medical education, serving Associate Program Director for the urology residency. He returned to Southwest Virginia in 2023 to start the region's first pediatric urology program and develop an academic urology residency program that will help elevate and sustain the urological care in the region.

Dr. Bayne serves as the chief of urology at Carilion and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM),
