Biographical Sketch

Cesar J. Bravo, M.D., began his career in 2005, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Bravo earned several bachelor’s degrees with honors before earning his medical degree magna cum laude at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Bravo remained at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine to intern in general surgery and then complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery. He then completed a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in 2005. Dr. Bravo has been with Carilion Clinic since 2005.

Dr. Bravo’s clinical expertise includes arthritis of wrist and hand; brachial plexus injuries; carpal tunnel syndrome; hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder trauma; shoulder problems; shoulder replacements; tendon repairs and transfers and complex elbow fractures.
 
Dr. Bravo has also holds academic appointments at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Association for Hand Surgery and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. Dr. Bravo holds numerous certifications including from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

In his spare time, Dr. Bravo enjoys running and spending time with his family. He is also fluent in Spanish. The most gratifying thing about his job is being able to help patients get back to their daily life.
