Biography

Azziza Bankole is a psychiatrist trained and board certified in both Adult and Geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Bankole trained at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria. She completed her residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and a Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Hospital in Long Island, NY. Dr. Bankole has received a number of awards for both clinical and research excellence including the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry Member-in-Training Research Award and the Herbert and Rosalie Greenberg Award for Excellence in Geriatric Psychiatry. Her area of interests include dementia, mood disorders, and schizophrenia. She is a Geriatric Psychiatrist at the Carilion Clinic Center for Healthy Aging, and the Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship program at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM). Dr Bankole is actively involved in patient care, medical education, and clinical research.
