To help reduce the spread and exposure of COVID-19, Carilion Clinic has implemented temporary visitation guidelines to help keep our patients and employees safe. If you are feeling sick, have tested positive for COVID in the past 21 days, or been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please do not visit or accompany the patient to their appointment.

All visitors must adhere to the following:

  • All visitors are required to wear a mask for the duration of their visit. If visitors do not have a mask or do not have an appropriate mask, we will provide you with one. Face masks with valves and face masks that are deemed offensive are not permitted at Carilion facilities.
  • All visitation is dependent on the facility having adequate space to promote social distancing.
  • Visitors may be asked to wait in vehicles at some locations.
  • Visitors and patients will be screened when they arrive. Anyone who is sick may not accompany patients in our facilities.
  • If an outpatient surgery visitor fails screening, the surgery may be rescheduled.
  • At some facilities, visitors may be given a color-coded wristband or sticker to identify them as approved visitors for the day.
  • All visitors must be over age 18 unless otherwise approved by the practice manager.
  • Visitor may include Case Manager or Care Coordinator.

Please refer to the tabs at the left for specific visitation guidelines.

Guidelines may change based on facility and community conditions and at the discretion of each facility. Requests for exceptions should be routed through the practice manager.
