Application Process

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program participates in the ASHP-associated Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) for applications and the National Matching Service (NMS) for the residency matching process.

Phase I Process

Please submit the following REQUIRED documents through the PhORCAS system by January 5:

  • Letter of intent
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Pharmacy school transcripts, undergraduate transcript (if available)
  • Minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation

On-site or virtual interviews for invited applicants will occur in late January through February.

Phase II Process

If any positions remain unfilled at the completion of phase I of the match, the position(s) will be offered in phase II of the match. 

Applications will be reviewed by the interview team as soon as they become available, and interviews will be offered and conducted on a rolling basis until one day before the phase II Rank Order List deadline. Candidates are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible.

Virtual interviews for invited applicants will occur from mid-March through early April.
