Riverside 4 Research Suite
As part of our continuing efforts to grow patient-centered research at Carilion, we are we are pleased to announce the opening of the Riverside 4 Clinical Research Suite (CRS).
About

The Riverside 4 CRS serves as a multifunctional hub supporting a range of clinical research activities. Research personnel now have access to dedicated research space in the Riverside complex—study visit rooms, a specimen processing lab and hoteling space—allowing for efficiencies in clinical trial coordination and participants' experience.
Available CRS Facilities

Study Visit Rooms
The Riverside 4 CRS offers three study visit rooms that research personnel may reserve to conduct:
- Consent visits
- Survey and data collection visits
- Follow up study visits
- Assessment visits for vital signs, ECGs
- Other study procedures
Future phases of development may allow for more advanced clinical procedures that require nursing or physician licensing. The CRS is not staffed by clinical personnel during this phase.
Specimen Processing Lab
Research personnel also have access to basic specimen processing equipment, such as a centrifuge, in the specimen processing lab. The lab is limited to study teams that have active studies in the CRS.
Hoteling Space
The Riverside 4 CRS has two workstations that research personnel may use as hoteling space. Study teams that do not have dedicated office space within the Riverside complex may reserve workstations for use.
Reservations and Fees
Reservations
Reservations for visit study rooms and hoteling workstations are managed by Carilion Clinic Research and Development (R&D) using a central calendar in Microsoft Outlook. The specimen processing lab does not require reservations.
Reservations must be made at least two business days in advance and are first come, first served. For your first reservation, please reserve at least one week in advance to allow for R&D to request badge access for you to enter the suite.
To reserve a study visit room or hoteling workstation, email research@carilionclinic.org and include:
- The type of space needed (study visit room or workstation)
- The date needed and duration needed, in hours
- The activity code for reservation billing
Fees
Reservations for visit study rooms will be charged at the rate of $50 per hour. R&D will review reservations monthly and charge relevant study activity codes for the previous month's reservations.
There is no fee for hoteling space; however, usage fees will apply for cancellations submitted with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Where applicable, R&D will instruct study teams to incorporate Riverside 4 exam room fees into study budgets at time of initial R&D application review.
