Timeframe for IRB Guidance

For study development assistance such as for initial submissions and grant applications, please allow approximately 30 days for IRB guidance, and keep this timeframe in mind when assessing IRB submission deadlines.  

Institutional Review Board Membership

Each Carilion Clinic IRB has at least five members, with varying backgrounds to provide adequate review of research activities commonly conducted at Carilion. Members include scientists, non-scientists and individuals who are not affiliated with the institution. The unaffiliated member represents the perspective of research subjects when reviewing submissions before the IRB.
