Deep brain stimulation
Featured Service
Our DBS treatment may enable patients suffering from movement disorders and related symptoms to have greater control over their movements. Common movement disorders that may benefit from DBS include: Parkinson’s disease, essential tremors and dystonia. DBS uses a surgically implanted device to deliver controlled electrical stimulation to targeted areas in the brain. It electrically stimulates specific structures that control unwanted symptoms. Leads are implanted by the neurosurgery team in the brain and connected to one or more neurostimulators implanted near the collarbone. The neurostimulator is programmed to send electrical pulses to control symptoms. The stimulation may be programmed and adjusted non-invasively by the neurologist to help maximize symptom control and minimize side effects.
