Orthopaedic Surgery NP & PA Fellowship

About

Program Overview

The Orthopaedic Surgery APP Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to champion all areas of orthopaedics.  The fellowship focuses on general orthopaedics, Level-1 orthopaedic trauma, and subspecialty orthopaedics.  The fellowship education follows a problem-based learning model bolstered by didactic lectures and labs.  The fellowship settings include the hospital, clinic, WALANT procedure room, operating room, and athletic sideline.  In addition to the fellowship specific educational offering, our fellows benefit from collaborative weekly educational conferences with our orthopaedic residents, journal clubs, and grand rounds.

The one-year fellowship starts full-time fellows in the Summer (July-August) and Winter (January-February).  The first 6 months (Junior Fellowship) focus on general orthopaedics and introduction to orthopaedic trauma.  The final 6 months (Senior Fellowship) focus on subspecialty orthopaedics and orthopaedic trauma.  The staggered start creates an educational setting consisting of junior and senior fellows.

Fellows accepted into the program will be full-time employees of Carilion Clinic and eligible for full medical, dental, and disability benefits. They will also retain GME benefits of other fellows such as BLS certifications, subsidized healthcare, scrubs, lab coats, moving expenses, iPhones, CME budget.
