Surgery ACP Fellowship
About Us
The Carilion Clinic Surgery Department is offering a post-graduate Advanced Clinical Practitioner Fellowship in Surgery for Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who have a RNFA certificate. This fellowship is an intensive program that is built on the strength of a highly successful PA and NP surgery practice in the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas. The fellowship will be a complement to the established general surgery residency at Carilion Clinic. NP and PA fellows will benefit from didactic and clinical experiences that parallel surgical resident training.
Graduates of this one-year fellowship program will possess substantial skills, knowledge, and competencies required in the field of Acute Care Surgery.
Fellows accepted into the program will be full-time employees of Carilion Clinic and eligible for full medical, dental, and disability benefits. They will also retain CME benefits of other ACP fellows, such as BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, subsidized healthcare, lab coats, phones, etc.
Mission/Objectives
To educate and train highly motivated NPs and PAs in the challenging and diverse knowledge base and procedural skills required for excellence in clinical practice in Acute Care Surgery.
- To prepare NPs and PAs for a career in General and Acute Care Surgery as competent, highly functional members of a healthcare team.
- To provide NPs and PAs with advanced education and specialized clinical and professional experience that will distinguish them from non-specialty trained NPs and PAs.
