About
As part of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), Carilion Children’s partners with businesses and organizations to support local fundraising campaigns that raise money for medical care, equipment and therapy programs that save and improve the lives of children in Southwest Virginia.
We are fortunate to work with a number of CMN hospital partners locally, including Walmart, Sam's Club, Dairy Queen, Ace Hardware, RE/MAX, and Panda Express.
Children's Miracle Network -- is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals across North America. Each year, the 170 CMN hospitals provide the finest medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals work with more than 170 hospitals toward a shared goal: improving the lives of local sick or injured children. Since 1983, the organization has raised more than $7 billion to save and improve the lives of kids across the United States and Canada. Carilion Children's is proud to be the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for Southwest Virginia. This means Carilion Children's benefits from fundraising activities happening at regional Children’s Miracle Network Hospital retailers and partners. These donations support our areas of greatest needs in care, research, and community health programs.
When a donation is given through a CMNH sponsored activity, it stays in the community, helping local kids. Carilion and CMNH have been partners for more than 11 years, raising more than $10 million!

Local Champion: Meet Tripp
Diagnosis: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-Cell)
Tripp was born on June 15, 2016 and was diagnosed three years later. Tripp was quickly under-way with his treatment path which would be made up of a 30-day Induction and then 60-day blocks for the frontline portion of treatment. The first month or so was the hardest; for Tripp and his family. He felt bad and the medications, especially the steroids, slowly took their hold and made it very uncomfortable and painful for him to move.
Tripp had slightly higher traces of cancer blasts at his thirty-day sensitive test, so he was on the High-Risk “arm” of treatment. This equates to more chemotherapy, more lumbar punctures, and additional therapy drugs. Other than this setback, he has favorable genetics and has had very few chemotherapy “holds” as a result of low counts in his bloodwork.
Tripp entered the Maintenance phase in May 2020. Tripp’s family has enjoyed a rise in Tripp’s energy levels; he is much more outgoing and even self-confident with having greater command of his mobility and by feeling much better overall.
Tripp’s family has tried very hard to keep Tripp and their lives as normal as possible. Tripp began a pre-K pro-gram at a nearby school in August 2020 and is thriving there.
