Inaugural medical school class members return

For his contributions to the community, including volunteering weekly at Roanoke’s Bradley Free Clinic, Roanoke City Council named Robert M. Brown, M.D., 2025 Citizen of the Year.  Dr. Brown is among 22 of the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine's nearly 500 graduates so far who have returned to teach at the medical school and practice at Carilion. 

The Virginia Tech-Carilion partnership has emerged as a nationally recognized model for strengthening medical education and improving community health.

Jordan Jackson, a standout student-athlete and nursing major at Radford University, became the inaugural recipient of the Carilion Clinic Endowed Athletics Scholarship. It is among a range of investments we’ve made to build the healthcare workforce for the future.

Fellowship program trains much-needed specialists

In a region that has received widespread attention for the impact of opioids, post-residency physicians like Ananya Mishra, D.O., shuttle between hospitals, clinics, and opioid treatment centers as part of our unique Addiction Medicine fellowship. The program is among Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion Graduate Medical Education's 30 accredited residencies and fellowships involving more than 350 physician trainees.
