Job Shadows

Observing Health care Professionals at Carilion Clinic

The Job Shadow program is designed to provide opportunities to learn about health careers while observing staff and patient interaction. Participants do not take part in hands-on care as part of this experience.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and must have completed a Tuberculosis screening within the previous 12 months. Students will shadow in their specified area of interest a maximum of three 4- or 8-hour sessions.

How to Apply

Those interested in participating in the Job Shadow program must complete the Observation Application (pdf).

Applicants must also fill out and submit the Attestation of Flu Vaccination form (.doc).

Applicants should complete the TB Screening before completing the application form itself.  When completing the application form, carefully note the deadlines described on the application cover letter.  After submitting your application, check email frequently, including Junk and Spam folders.

Applicants must also read the Code of Excellence Student Letter(.doc) and Code of Excellence Manual (.pdf) and acknowledge they've read it by signing on page 29.

Under no circumstances may you shadow without first having received a confirmation email from Carilion’s Visiting Student Affairs Office.
