Further southwest, our Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is designated as a Level III trauma center, providing high quality trauma care close to home and for surrounding rural communities.
Our 24 hour immediate coverage by emergency medicine physicians, along with prompt availability of general surgeons and anesthesiologists, provides injured patients with timely services such as injury assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization. Patients requiring more comprehensive care are stabilized and transferred to our Level I Trauma Center at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
We have an active trauma prevention and outreach program in the referring communities and offer continued education for nurses and members of the trauma team.
We are the leading health care provider in the New River Valley, serving southwest Virginia communities in Montgomery, Pulaski, Floyd, Wythe, Giles and the City of Radford. Our physicians and services are patient focused with quality care and safety as our top priorities.
