Dr. Cay Mierisch earned his medical degree at the Medical University of Lbeck in Germany, after which he served as junior house officer in orthopaedic surgery at Lister Hospital in England. He then completed a research fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and an internship in general surgery and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in hand and upper extremity at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Mierisch is board-certified in both hand surgery and orthopaedic surgery.<br/><br/>

In addition to treating hand and upper extremity patients at Carilion Clinics Institute for Orthopaedics and Neurosciences, Dr. Mierisch is assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He lives in Roanoke with his wife, Carilion Clinic hand surgeon Dr. Cassandra Mierisch.
