Dr. Cassandra Mierisch completed her undergraduate degree at Montreals McGill University and earned her medical degree from the University of Calgary in Alberta. After completing a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Queens University in Ontario, she completed multiple fellowships: in hand and upper extremity at Queens University, in shoulder and elbow surgery at Australias Monash University and in hand and microvascular surgery from the University of Washington in Seattle.<br/><br/>

Dr. Mierisch joined Carilion Clinic in 2007, where she treats arthritis of the wrist and hand, carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion cysts and hand trauma. As assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and the University of Virginia School of Medicine, she enjoys mentoring medical students and clinical research. She lives in Roanoke with her husband, Carilion Clinic hand surgeon Dr. Cay Mierisch.<br/><br/>

She is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedics and hand surgery. She emphasizes patient-centered, individualized care in her practice, involving her patients in the decision-making process.
