TRAINING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE FELLOWS AT VIRGINIA TECH CARILION
Welcome to our Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program. Since its inception in July 2011, we have offered solid clinical training in all aspects of cardiovascular diseases. Our primary hospital (Carilion Roanoke Memorial) is a large tertiary care facility that serves patients from a wide geographical region including mid and southwestern Virginia as well as Southeastern West Virginia. Our fellows also rotate at the nearby Salem VAMC. Both hospitals have state-of-the-art facilities and technologies. All types of CV pathologies are encountered in robust volumes. Fellows are not only able to obtain core fundamental skills, but by providing significant elective rotation experience, we enable fellows to tailor their training to develop unique skills and aptitudes. Fellows help teach medical students and residents on rotations and often work closely with dedicated mid-level providers. Fellows have 2 months per year for research with mentors at Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute or nearby Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg. Through continual refinement and development, our commitment is to provide exceptional education and training in all aspects of Cardiovascular Disease. Our program is a three year ACGME accredited program with three positions available yearly.
