"I welcome you to our web site and thank you for considering our program. The Virginia Tech Carilion Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program offers comprehensive training at a large, tertiary hospital that is affiliated with a University System and Medical School. Our aim is to graduate competent OBGYN physicians who can practice independently. We help our residents achieve this goal through teaching, clinical experiences, mentorship, and research. Our teaching faculty is comprised of attending physicians from all subspecialties (gynecology oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, pediatric adolescent gynecology, and maternal fetal medicine) as well as a robust generalist division. We offer high risk obstetrical training and our residents benefit from a diverse patient population. Residents receive comprehensive gynecologic surgery training that includes laparoscopic, vaginal, and robotic approaches. We have a two-year, repeating didactic curriculum which incorporates simulation as well as a research curriculum with support to complete a quality improvement or research project. We believe that mentorship is important and our residents establish their mentors at the end of their first year. Our residency program fosters the Carilion Clinic mission of improving the health of the communities we serve. Thank you for considering our program."
