Video: Carilion Clinic's Dana Abney, W.H.N.P.-B.C., discusses the importance of regular check ups for adolescents and teens.

Teens and young adults have unique needs when it comes to healthcare. Our Carilion Clinic Adolescent and Student Health Services is designed to serve as a resource where teens and young adults, ages 10 - 26, are able to obtain the care they need to stay healthy.

Services we offer include:

  • Wellness visits
  • School, sports and camp physicals
  • Acute illness and minor injury treatment, such as strep throat or sprained ankle
  • Immunizations
  • Diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases
  • Contraception
  • Mental health counseling

Signed parent permission forms are required for teens who are under age 18 to be seen. This form must be updated annually.

Open communication between young adults and parents is encouraged. However, as required by federal and state law, the physicians and staff at Carilion's Adolescent and Student Health Services will see any teen or young adult who is seeking sensitive evaluation and treatment without a parental permission form. Please contact our staff for more information on confidentiality and/or payment and insurance.
